  Captions Type in direct – Hit the enter button after you type the caption – You should be able to see it in the Caption bar.. A tip -  if renaming files, and adding captions – do the rename file part first.. then add the caption and hit the Enter key.   For some reason, it usually loses the caption you have just typed in  if you rename the file afterwards. For longer captions, type in a word processor and format first – This is especially useful for group photos…. Using Captions in Picasa  Captions are a great tool to add text to your photos for various reason. For many people who don't have access to a computer, this is a great way to add information and identify people in a photograph and still be able to see it on the TV screen. So my first tip is to create your caption under the photo in Picasa. This can be quite detailed, but remember if you are viewing it on a TV screen, think about where the text can go to still see the image without having writing across faces or relevant detail. Then make sure to select the image, go to File, Save a Copy and create a new copy of the image which you can add text to. You will need to create this file you are creating a whole new image with text included that you can export to a USB, or an SD card or burn to a CD or DVD and use with either your TV's direct inputs or via your home network.

  PICASA and Captions  Captions can be added as text to a photo – TIP: make a copy of the photo first before you add text. You can do this by clicking on the photo, Go to File Save a copy -            then wait for Picasa to show the thumbnail of the current image. -            Remember that when you save a copy, it will generally be a smaller version of the file and saved as a JPEG – this is ideal for TV viewing.. but not great for book printing. -            For books – using the caption and text option is not great – you have be very careful with the colour and size of the font… and the quality of the image is not the best. In the current versions of Picasa, when you add a caption you cannot undo.. so the caption stays there.. I presume this is so it remains if you take the photo outside the Pi...
