Unlock the Past Brisbane Seminar Tuesday 29 March 2011
Just received notice of a new seminar in Brisbane courtesy of Unlock the Past -
some interesting presenters... and there is a lot of recent news on military history and photos found in France... so for all those interested, make sure you book on the Unlock the Past website...
A late decision has been made to hold a FREE seminar in Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon 29 March
at Kedron-Wavell Services Club, 375 Hamilton Rd, Chermside.
This is to take advantage of several interstate historians/presenters in Brisbane at the time. There will be a partial focus on military history with talks on:
Gould Genealogy & History, Unlock the Past and Clean Cruising (our cruise and tour partner) will have trade tables there. I would like to invite your society/library/business to participate with a trade table - at no cost- to take advantage of the occasion to promote your resources and services - especially in the military history area - and add to the value of the occasion to those attending. If you cannot attend in person, you may wish to send some brochures to have on a table. There is plenty of room for exhibitors and visitors (it can seat up to 250 people).
If you can give some notice to your members or visitors to your organisation in any way you can it would be appreciated. Please let me know if you can use some printed leaflets - and how many (available next week),
I invite you to take advantage of this FREE seminar and the several special presenters we have brought together.
There is a separate (though related) meeting - also FREE - in the evening at the same place for those who want to attend. More about history cruises and battlefield tours. See bottom half of our seminar page.
PS we invite you to promote any of your own events on the Unlock the Past web site. It is easy and FREE and increasingly used by event organisers around Australia and NZ - http://www.unlockthepast.com.au/events.

- Australia at War by military historian and battlefield tour operator Mat McLachlan
- Researching Military Ancestors in Australia by Shauna Hicks
- FamilySearch, including tips on using the New Family Search - Paul Parton (from Sydney). Paul is one of our most popular presenters at events around the country and his topic is of wide general interest.
- Connecting with family lines online - Rosemary Kopittke. This is an all new presentation from Rosemary looking at GenesReunited, MyHeritage, Ancestry and other websites to see how we can use the resources of the internet to make those family connections. What does each of them offer and which is best for you?
